The Transforming Energy Access (TEA) platform is at the core of our work in clean energy access. TEA is a research and innovation platform supporting the technologies, business models and skills needed to enable an inclusive clean energy transition. It has reached nearly 16 million people with improved access to clean energy and leveraged £890 million of additional funding.
Our focus is not only on energy access but how it can enable development benefits including health, education and income growth. For example, the Powering Renewable Energy Opportunities (PREO) component pilots new clean energy business models that help to grow incomes, lower costs, displace diesel and eliminate agricultural waste and e-waste.
Our new Zero Emission Generators (ZE-Gen) initiative aims to create viable alternatives to the use of fossil fuelled generators across developing countries and was launched at COP27.
