Simon has 20 years’ experience of leading initiatives on sustainability in a variety of roles. He currently oversees the Carbon Trust’s work across Latin America and the Caribbean, developing and leading projects on low carbon strategy, policy and delivery. He has particular expertise in the design and setting up of large-scale energy and resource efficiency programmes providing finance and advice to business, having led the development of such schemes in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama and Peru over the last six years.

Previously Simon was head of an award-winning team working on climate policy at the UK’s Institute for Public Policy Research, working at a senior level with ministers and CEOs. This included work leading the Secretariat for the International Climate Change Taskforce – providing evidence-based advice on how to make progress in addressing climate change at the international level for the UK’s G8 Presidency. He was also co-director of the Climate Initiatives Fund, a private grant-making programme dedicated to accelerating efforts to mitigate climate change in the UK and overseas.

Simon has a BSc in Government and History from the London School of Economics. He is a member of the board of Carbon Trust Mexico and was previously a trustee of the New Economics Foundation.
