We have worked closely with the Carbon Trust over a number of years and we are pleased to see our collective efforts come to fruition. Our broader sustainability agenda has developed from energy efficiency in our operations, to carbon, renewable energy, water and waste reduction, through to our supply chain goals.
Working with the Carbon Trust has enabled us to detangle the complexity of our supply chain. Thanks to their scalable model, we now have a much more detailed picture of where we are in meeting Kellogg’s ™ Better Days Promise environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy climate ambitions. The team's training sessions were especially helpful. We now have a better understanding on where to reduce our supply chain emissions and can factor our calculations into future procurement decisions.
Many of our customers are increasingly concerned about sustainability and are working hard to find ways to reduce their impact on the environment. With this online tool we aim to enable them to choose products with a lower carbon footprint by clearly communicating the emissions associated with the different packaging options. Also, by better understanding these emissions, we can take more effective steps to reduce them. In doing so, we target the biggest hotspots and continue to improve our performance as a company.
With the Carbon Trust’s guidance, we have made the most ambitious long-term climate commitment in our journey yet. The team’s deep-rooted understanding and expertise gave us the confidence and clarity we needed to lay out a Net Zero pathway. Here, the feasibility work was particularly beneficial. It showed us practical ways in which we can reach Net Zero while enabling our customers to save energy. Together, we’ve shown how you can take responsibility for indirect emissions, however difficult the challenge and seize the business opportunities.
