Kate Hooper

Senior Manager, Africa

Kate is a Senior Manager in the Africa team, and the Just and Inclusive Transitions lead at the Carbon Trust. She has more than 13 years’ experience in consulting, financial advisory, and research, and has been working in sustainable development and climate change mitigation since 2016. Currently, Kate specialises in strategy and business development, and design and delivery of climate change projects in Africa for public and private sector clients, across topics such as green finance, just and inclusive energy transitions, energy access, and e-mobility. 

Previously at the Carbon Trust, Kate has managed a range of international climate mitigation projects and programmes for public sector clients. These include advisory and strategy projects related to energy efficiency policy and finance in Southeast Asia, just coal transitions in South Asia, just transitions policy in Latin America, and energy access innovation and finance in Africa.

Prior to joining the Carbon Trust, Kate worked at the Environment Department at United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in Vienna, at an environmental consultancy in Indonesia as well as a financial analyst for a global wind farm developer headquartered in Australia. Kate has an MA in Environmental Management and Development from the Crawford School of Public Policy (Distinction, & University Medal) and a Bachelor of Commerce (International Business & Finance), both from the Australian National University, where she has also worked as a research assistant.
