Emma has 12 years’ experience supporting cities and regions to develop and implement long-term, cross-sectoral plans that facilitate the transition to Net Zero.

She leads the delivery of the Carbon Trust’s area-wide climate action plans developed in response to the climate emergency, incorporating activities such as stakeholder engagement, carbon footprinting, science-based target setting, future energy system modelling, socio-economic assessment, spatial mapping and action plan development.

The Carbon Trust's topic lead on decarbonising heat, Emma has experience across hydrogen, heat pumps and heat networks. This includes supporting local authorities to develop a £250m+ heat network portfolio in the last four years, providing technical and commercial advice to help bring projects such as Leeds PIPES to financial close.

Emma is the Carbon Trust’s representative to the District Energy in Cities Initiative, an international accelerator convened by UN Environment supporting the growth of district heating and cooling in 30 developing countries worldwide.

She holds a first class Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Liverpool, specialising in climate science. Emma was awarded ‘Young Professional of the Year’ in the Decentralised Energy Awards 2018.
