Simon’s 26-year career in sustainability has included roles in consultancy, think tanks, philanthropy and journalism. He currently leads the Carbon Trust’s Net Zero Intelligence Unit, delivering thought leadership from across the organisation to ensure its experience-led knowledge on the Net Zero transition is made accessible to policy, business and finance decision-makers. He also oversees the Carbon Trust’s consulting business in Latin America, delivering work for public and private sector clients on clean energy, sustainable agriculture, green finance, corporate sustainability and climate policy.

Previously Simon was head of an award-winning team working on climate policy at the UK’s Institute for Public Policy Research, working at a senior level with government ministers. This included leading the Secretariat for the International Climate Change Taskforce, providing evidence-based advice on how to make progress in addressing climate change at the international level for the UK’s G8 Presidency. He was also co-director of the Climate Initiatives Fund, a private grant-making initiative dedicated to accelerating efforts to mitigate climate change; commissioning editor at the Ecologist magazine; co-author of the prize-winning book “STOP” on the world’s environmental problems for French publishers Le Seuil; and a visiting fellow at the International Forum on Globalization in San Francisco.

Simon is a member of the Carbon Trust’s Executive Leadership Team and a member of the board of Carbon Trust Mexico. He was previously a trustee of the UK’s New Economics Foundation and on the board of Redefining Progress in the USA.
