Jorge has over 10 years of experience as an energy, sustainability, and climate change professional. He has collaborated with governments, cooperation agencies and international organizations in the design of energy and environmental policies. 

Based in the Carbon Trust’s office in Mexico City, he focuses on the design of economic and regulatory instruments related to energy and natural resources and in the economic analysis and design of decarbonization pathways as well. Prior to joining the Carbon Trust, he worked as a Senior Consultant in energy and climate change in the Mexican-Danish Energy and Climate Change Program. He focused on the techno-economic modelling of electricity, transport, residential, oil and gas, industry and AFOLU sectors. He previously worked at the Mexican Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), where he was Deputy Director-General of economic analysis leading the development of regulatory instruments related to the clean energy, electricity, and natural gas. Likewise, he worked at the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (INECC) in the Green Growth department.

Jorge is a Chemical Engineer and holds a Master’s degree in Economics with specialization in natural resources and sustainable development from the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and is Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Economics from Heidelberg University, Germany.
