Bogi Hojgaard
Associate Director, Energy Transition
Bogi joined the Carbon Trust in 2022 during which time he has delivered projects on energy transition innovation, energy access (Sub-Saharan Africa), ancillary services and early coal retirement for businesses and governments in the UK and internationally. A key thought leader in the energy system transition, Bogi is a champion of whole systems thinking and the greater use of data to inform analysis and applies this to support new approaches and innovation in early coal retirement, energy storage, local energy systems, consumer engagement and grid/network development.
Before joining the Carbon Trust, Bogi headed up the Data and Analytics team at the Low Carbon Contracts Company, significantly expanding the publication of data. Prior to this Bogi spent 7 years with EDF Energy, primarily in the Corporate Strategy team, supporting both the energy supply and generation business, including building the strategic case for new nuclear deployment in the UK. Bogi also spent 7 years with E.ON UK, working across new nuclear and CCUS development as well as medium to long term commodities forecasting, including gas, coal, oil and carbon markets. Bogi studied Economics and Finance at the University of Aberdeen and achieved the respected CFA charter in 2014.
