Heat strategy and planning
We provide expert support to governments, cities, public sector bodies and corporates to develop and implement heat decarbonisation action plans.
Our heat strategies identify policies and projects that address the decarbonisation of heat in buildings and industry, as well as the transition required in our network infrastructure. We take a whole-building approach to heat decarbonisation planning, considering fabric, heat emitters, and infrastructure alongside low and zero carbon heat generation.
Heat networks
The Carbon Trust is one of the UK's leading advisors on heat networks. We have a long track record of supporting schemes through the development cycle to financial close and have provided support to more than 70 heat network schemes across the UK since 2012.
We help public bodies and developers to determine their role in the delivery of heat network schemes; de-risk the investment opportunity; shape a project that delivers local benefit and build stakeholder support that leads to the project reaching financial close.
Heat pumps
Heat pumps will be a critical technology in the decarbonisation of heat. We are experts in heat pump innovation and deployment both for domestic and non-domestic buildings. We help governments, public sector bodies, housing providers and homeowners to accelerate the targeted roll out of heat pumps at significantly increased density and scale. We do this by managing large scale innovation and collaboration programmes that address key barriers to large scale deployment. We also work with building owners and portfolio managers to assess opportunities for heat pump deployment as part of an optimised strategy to decarbonise buildings.
