Neil joined the Carbon Trust in 2021, and now manages the Offshore Wind Accelerator and the BEIS Floating Wind Demonstration programme. He brings a strong technical background in wind resource assessment, aerodynamics, structural dynamics and project/programme management.

He studied Mechanical Engineering with Aeronautics at Strathclyde University, after which he worked on helicopter rotor design and the design of ice protection systems. His transition into renewables began in 2008 when he moved to Frazer-Nash consultancy, where he worked on a wide range of aerodynamics, aeroelastics and measurement projects for the offshore wind, wave and tidal energy industries. Since then, he led Clyde Space’s mechanical engineering team for two years (designing, testing and manufacturing systems for low-cost spaceflight) and worked for a start-up to develop and demonstrate a novel wind turbine blade design.
