Masaō Ashtine
Manager, Energy Transition
Masaō is part of the Energy Transition team and has over 10 years of experience in climate and energy systems research, modelling, and policy. After his PhD. at the University of Cambridge, he worked with various consulting agencies such as the renewables company 3E in Brussels. Masaō then completed a Lectureship at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica at the Department of Physics which saw him take the lead research role for renewable energy courses and projects across the campus.
In 2019 Masaō joined Project LEO (£50m+ demonstration project) as Data Lead for 3+ years at the University of Oxford, working chiefly in the analysis and data management of flexibility market trials across various project partners. His work involved regular stakeholder interviews, the design and implementation of end-to-end processes in flexibility trials, and automated data processing and curation for the entire project (7 work packages). He also taught in the bespoke MSc. in Energy Systems at Oxford through this position.
He is currently an Energy Transition Manager at the Carbon Trust, collaborating with various clients on projects to deliver Net Zero transition.
