Iain is a Director in the Programmes and Innovation Team, where he leads the Carbon Trust's work on supporting new and innovative solutions for the net zero transition. Iain directs and oversees a number of large scale sector transformation initiatives both in the UK and globally spanning clean energy access, industrial decarbonisation and venture acceleration.

Iain has previously worked in a number of consultancy roles in Europe and the Middle East focused on the commercialisation of new renewable energy solutions. Prior to this Iain held a postdoctoral research associate position at the Clean Energy Institute in Seattle, researching the design of new photovoltaic materials. Iain has a PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College London focused on thin film photovoltaics, and has authored over 15 academic papers and patents in this area.
