The Carbon Trust Public Sector Conference 2014, hosted in association with GE Lighting, took place on 19 March 2014 at the Royal Society in London. Sustainability leaders from over 200 public sector bodies across the UK had registered to attend the annual free event.
The opening keynote was provided by Labour frontbench peer, Baroness Worthington, who was one of the main architects of the UK’s Climate Change Act. The closing speech was provided by the UK’s former Special Representative for Climate Change, John Ashton, focusing on the crucial role of the public sector in driving forward carbon reduction and resource efficiency.
Learning opportunities were provided during the day, with a series of masterclasses provided for delegates. These were delivered by experts from the Carbon Trust, the Green Investment Bank and DECC on topics ranging from behaviour change, heat networks and low carbon cities, through to the new Electricity Demand Reduction scheme being launched by the government in June.
The Carbon Trust is grateful for support from GE Lighting, as well as exhibitors Daikin, Edge Electrical & Renewables, and United Utilities, without whom it would not have been possible to keep the event free for delegates.
